Mastro Geppetto: Liscia Bulldog (1) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1598
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts. That being said, much of this piece is rooted in the classic Anglo-French style of shaping, with an arrow-straight stretch of shank and stem, the combination framed by the quartet of ridgelines that inform its iconic diamond shape. The bottom-most of these lines sweep into the heel of the bowl, dissipating as it reaches toward the fore, though working to outline the heel and drawing more of the visual weight forward. The bowl flares out of the heel to a high-set waist marked by a single beadline, with this line additionally denoting a sleek taper to the flat rim. A warm walnut stain dresses the briar here, revealing handsome grain throughout the stummel.
