Mastro Geppetto: Sabbiato Spiral Bent Apple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-819-1600
Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts. Bearing the brand's striking Spiral finish, this bent Apple from Mastro Geppetto strongly evokes the Pesaro style. A carved channel wraps around the bowl from the rim to the aft, flowing around the contours of the briar in a spiral formation and adding a wealth of texture to the composition. The bowl itself is hefty in build, its walls rising from a sweeping heel and subtly tapering toward the rim. A muscular shank lifts out of the transition from the bowl, taking on a slight taper toward a similarly tapering stem of subtly bent black acrylic, poising this pipe for comfortable smoking. In addition to the Spiral finish, this pipe is dressed in a crisp, smoky sandblast, enhancing the texture of the stummel and revealing some lovely grain.
