Mastro Geppetto: Rusticato Bent Billiard Churchwarden Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-819-1608

Giancarlo Guidi founded Ser Jacopo in 1982, building a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Mastro Geppetto is Ser Jacopo's sub-brand of more accessibly priced pipes that still maintain a high quality of workmanship. Crafted in the Ser Jacopo workshop, these pieces embody the playful Pesaro style of their pricier counterparts. This bent Billiard Churchwarden is an appropriately lengthy take on the shape, and it presents with a wide transition and a trim, lifting shank. This shank reaches up to meet a remarkably protracted stem of tapering black acrylic, extending the reach of this piece to more than ten inches and making a smart curve at the bit for comfortable smoking. All this length out back balances some of the bowl's visual weight, its thick walls standing on a rounded heel as they make a slight curve to the rim: aptly insulating the chamber and making for a comfortable feel in hand. Dressed in a craggy rustication and a deep, ruby-tinged stain, the stummel is rich with texture throughout.
