Peter Matzhold: Smooth Freehand Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-290-0280

Peter Matzhold has a deft hand for imbuing his designs with a striking balance of clean, crisp linework and and supple, smooth curve. This clever freehand, something of a combination of the classic Volcano and the Eskimo, is seemingly defined by the continuous curve at the underside, emphasized by two tight paneled ridges to both flanks. The aforementioned ridges trail underneath the transition, before dissolving into the bowl itself. This serves to even further highlight the neatly-tucked transition, while also maintaining the sleek, tapered curves of the bowl form. Flame erupts on all around, coupled with birdseye at the topside of the shank, as well as all along the underside, all perfectly oriented, and accentuated by a strong, but not too bold contrast stain. A brilliant composition from Peter Matzhold.
