Micah Redmond: Sandblasted Tulip with Cocobolo Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-774-0005
"Tulip" is a name you can find applied to more than one shape, as in, multiple shapes that may not even vaguely resemble each other. The most basic, for example, would be the Danish classic Tulip, a variant of the Brandy with an especially low waistline and pronounced, long taper to a canted rim. Micah Redmond's Tulip falls into a greatly varying (from artisan to artisan) class of more-or-less Egg-like designs, which can make it harder to guess at specific influences. Heeschen? Maybe, for this Micah Redmond Tulip is stretched in cross-section as Peter's designs were, but unlike Peter's Micah's is asymmetrical; it is stretched towards the left-rear and right-front, rather than just left-to-right. While there's bound to be Danish influence afoot, directly or indirectly, as expected from an artisan who's part of the BriarWorks crew, the final style of this Tulip is still modern American: smooth of line like a Danish design, but firmer and more taut.
