Micah Redmond: Sandblasted Tomato with Bakelite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-774-0015
If the Cherry Tomato in this same batch of Micah Redmond pipes were an accurate example of the fruit, this fellow here would be a robust heirloom. Put simply: where that fellow was right in line with the carver's stylistic tendency toward smaller pipes, this fellow is downright hearty. Indeed, it's roughly a Group 4 in terms of chamber, with a beyond-substantial feel in hand, filling the palm with deep, craggy sandblasted ring-grain. Said blasted grain is stained a deep, warm crimson, paired to a slate gray bakelite accent and jet-black stem for an understated, yet modernist look. Though I don't normally pine for larger pieces, this one still caught my eye.
