Micah Redmond: Sandblasted Cherry Tomato with Bakelite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-774-0017
I don't believe I've ever seen the color of this stem outside of a Micah Redmond pipe, anywhere, for any application. Bakelite provides tones that are impossible to reproduce in other materials, and this translucent saddle bit is as individualistic as they come, bringing to mind blue-green waters traversed by pirates and inhabited by mermaids in exotic, fantastical places. In contrast, the warm tan stain of the pipe highlights some wavy ring grain on the asymmetrical bowl, offset to the left in an oval configuration. With a large shank and graduated transition, the stummel seems more like the one piece it is than do other pipes with more abrupt curvature. Compact, it's a perfect pocket pipe, and it sits on a flat surface easily, so there's little that could be interpreted as inconvenient. Soothingly tranquil in coloration, light and natural in hand, compact for carrying, this is a piece deserving of real consideration.
