Micah Redmond: Sandblasted Bent Egg with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-774-0060
American artisan Micah Redmond crafts pipes in a style that nicely fuses the smooth lines and easy curves of Danish pipe-making with the more compact musculature often seen in American designs, with this bent Egg being an excellent example. Though not quite a true Nosewarmer, at well under five inches long, this pipe's rather petite stature is sure to make it a valued travel companion, able to slip easily into a pocket and be carried wherever needed. A wide transition here gives way to a thick shank that curls upward as it reaches toward a sleek saddle stem of black vulcanite, the pair meeting at a domed band of horn that marks the junction. The base of the stem is carved in a stylish, domed configuration that continues the implied lines of the round shank through the stem's vulcanite, creating a silhouette that emphasizes curvature well. Up front, the bowl stands atop a sweeping heel, its low-set waistline giving way to supple, tapering walls that arc as they reach to a flat rim and offer a comfortable feel in hand. Dressed in a crisp, inky sandblast, the stummel showcases rippling growth rings flowing down the bowl, with the band of horn at the junction offering some elegant contrast. Bold and hearty, yet extremely travel-friendly, this pipe's playful outline, timeless aesthetic, and practical shaping are sure to make it a valued member of any collection.
