Micah Redmond: Partially Sandblasted Acorn with Bakelite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-774-0064
American artisan Micah Redmond's style is characterized by supple curves and hearty proportions, yet his designs often remain compressed, reminiscent of the compact musculature often seen in American pipe making. This Acorn is a fine showcase of Redmond's shaping, displaying a lightweight build and supple curvature throughout. Posed at the fore is a squat, plump bowl, its supple walls providing a comfortable presence in hand. Said bowl is lenticular in profile, formed by walls that curve out from a sweeping heel to a softly domed rim. The sweeping stance of the bowl continues into the silhouette, keeping the profile active as the bowl pairs to a gently upturned shank. A smooth accent adorns the shank end as it meets a gingerly downturned saddle stem of swirling reddish-brown bakelite. Dressing the stummel is an inky sandblast, showcasing rippling growth rings that reach from the heel to the rim of the bowl, which is left smooth for contrast.
