American artisan Micah Redmond crafts pipes in a style that nicely fuses the smooth lines and easy curves of Danish pipe-making with the more compact musculature often seen in American designs. This bent Egg is a less robust example of Redmond's style, and for this, it stands out among his other renditions of the shape: residing in the interstitial space between his taut Nosewarmers and more protracted takes on the profile. Measuring in at less than five and a half inches long, this pipe's length is reserved, and it weighs just slightly over an ounce, making it a fantastic choice for designated travel carry or hands-free smoking. Given its more standard reach, coupled with its feathery presence in hand, the shank and stem take on a rather willowy look as they arc out of the wide transition, with the shank itself lifting and curving subtly to meet a sleek saddle of black vulcanite. This combination boasts a graceful, agile look about its lilting travel to the button, and this fluid appearance naturally supports the bowl, its lower line smoothly flowing into the heel. Said heel sweeps into the fore wall, which bulges out subtly at a low-set waist that additionally denotes an arcing taper to the rim, creating supple curves that make for a comfortable feel in hand. Dressed in a crisp, inky sandblast, the stummel displays plenty of texture throughout its stummel, with rippling bands of growth rings showcased near the lower portion of the walls and blasted birdseye through the underside.
