Given the overwhelming popularity of compact, chubby shapes in recent years, and his own penchant for modernized classic, English designs, it comes to no surprise to find this Chubby Bulldog rounding out this batch of briars from Michael Parks. The overall lines and distribution of visual weight are all fairly old-school; Michael has essentially just rendered it on a much more compact, and beefy scale. Under five inches in overall length, it's certainly a handy piece, but the sheer muscularity of the form itself might keep it from being a comfortable clencher. No matter, there's plenty of insulating briar in the chamber walls to make for an enjoyable warmth in hand, and finished in one of Michael's signature, deep sandblasts, that texture and grain pattern is simply unparalleled.
