Michael Parks: Sandblasted Bent Brandy (IV.16) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-473-0071
If you're at all familiar with Michael Park's work, two things might stand out about his approach to pipe making and overall aesthetic. The first is his penchant for taking old classic shapes and modernizing them, often lending them a bit of muscularity, as well as softer, more Danish-inspired lines. The second, of course, is perhaps the most obvious: his deft skill in the blasting cabinet. Simply put, Michael's sandblasted finishes are out of this world — deep and gnarly, with serious grain definition and a stimulating feel in hand. This bent Brandy represents both, beefing up the overall proportions of the design, lending it a bit more Danish-style sweep to the transition, and finishing it all in one of the most impressive sandblasts I've seen from the carver to date.
