Mike Sebastian Bay: Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-820-0016
A perfectly balanced bent Dublin, this piece from Mike Sebastian Bay is an excellent blend of Danish minimalism and stunning elegance. The flattened underside adds a dose of architectural rigidity, firmly defining the form's base while the rest of the piece remains smooth and clean-lined above. It creates a subtle point at the fore where the heel meets the upward rising bowl, contributing to the bowl's forward-canted posture, continuing the implied momentum initiated by the stem's downward turn. Gently curling through the shank, the transition flares slightly into the bowl, the rim above softly inflated. Grain-wise, this piece couldn't be more beautiful — the stummel is wrapped in sweeping flame grain, rising from the birdseye studded underside to the top of the shank and rim which also display swirling whorls. Magnificent work from Bay as the carver truly comes into his own, expanding even more his already impressive portfolio.
