Mike Sebastian Bay: Rusticated Poker Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-820-0073
An apprentice under fellow Dane Tom Eltang, Mike Sebastian Bay is an accomplished carver in his own right with a seasoned grasp of pipe engineering fully on display in this rusticated Poker. This playfully canted piece shows the influence of Bay's teacher taken in a new direction in Bay's own style. A smooth, domed rim caps the slim bowl of this piece, resting on a flat heel that allows this pipe to sit with a forward urging and engaging disposition. The slim round shank is set high in this example, equipped with a tapered vulcanite stem further elevated with an eye-catching expansion ring. The stummel is dressed in a fine rustication that mimics the ring grain found in some sandblasted pipes. Bay learned the technique from Eltang, who gave Mike his blessing to use it in his own work. The briar's burgundy stain pairs perfectly with its textured finish to make this an elegant yet rugged piece perfect for everyday use.
