Mike Sebastian Bay: Rusticated Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-820-0082
We've seen this style of saddle-stemmed Dublin before from Mike Sebastian Bay, both with smooth and sandblasted finishes. This time, though, the Danish carver presents the traditional form in his signature rustication. Bay learned the technique during his time as Tom Eltang's protégé and was given the elder Dane's blessing to use the style in his own work. While it's the same texture as Tom's, Mike has truly made it his own, rendering it in unique striated or coiled patterns as he steps into his own signature carving and shaping style. This piece is stunning example, featuring vertical grooves across the stummel, accentuating the bowl's flare toward a smooth, polished rim. The trim saddle stem and shank keeps this a lightweight piece, while the natural hue and cumberland of the stem make for a vibrant, lively presentation.
