Mike Sebastian Bay: Smooth Bulldog with Camel Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-820-0100
Danish artisan Mike Sebastian Bay began carving pipes quite by chance. While seeking someone to repair his father's old pipes, he encountered a certain Tom Eltang. The two quickly bonded, and Eltang became his mentor, guiding him through the process of making his own high-quality pipes. Now a highly respected artisan in his own right, Bay puts those early lessons to use, incorporating elements of Eltang's style into his own aesthetic.
This Bulldog is a unique take on the classic shape, imbuing it with a bit more roundness about the edges than typically seen. The bowl features the form's customary beadlines and taper, albeit a bit less sharp in this rendition, while the lower bowl curves gently into the heel. Out back, a softly defined diamond shank joins a tapered vulcanite stem, adorned with a unique accent of camel bone. Dressed in a rich auburn finish, the stummel boasts a stunning array of birdseye throughout, with touches of cross grain dividing the flanks.
