Mike Sebastian Bay: Partially Sandblasted Dublin with Camel Bone Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-820-0127
Danish artisan Mike Sebastian Bay began carving pipes quite by chance. While seeking someone to repair his father's old pipes, he encountered a certain Tom Eltang. The two quickly bonded, and Eltang became his mentor, guiding him through the process of making his own high-quality pipes. Now a highly respected artisan in his own right, Bay puts those early lessons to use, incorporating elements of Eltang's style into his own aesthetic.
This bent Dublin is a sturdy example of the classic shape, featuring a broad, plump bowl, the walls of which display a supple flare toward a wide, domed rim. Said bowl rests on a soft, sloping heel at the fore of a smooth transition to an upward-curling oval shank, joined to a comfortably bent stem of black vulcanite, accented with a slim band of milk-white camel bone. Dressed in a partial sandblast, the stummel boasts a wealth of crisp texture around the bowl, while the smooth, auburn rim displays a mix of flame grain and birdseye, creating a rustic, yet elegant aesthetic.
