Mike Sebastian Bay: Rusticated Bent Brandy with Camel Bone Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-820-0141

Mike Sebastian Bay started with a simple task, find someone to repair his father's old pipes. He ended up in Tom Eltang's workshop. Learning firsthand from one of Denmark's foremost masters, Bay learned how to shape, drill, engineer, and finish pipes, even being given Eltang's blessing to use his signature rustication. Bay's aesthetic is one steeped in Danish tradition, which he readily embraces.

This bent Brandy by Mike Sebastian Bay presents a gestural, arcing profile, which is a classic Danish design cue. Furthermore, the elegant profile frames robust proportions, giving this pipe a muscular appeal. The bowl displays a low-set, voluptuous waistline that seamlessly transitions into the thick shank thanks to some subtle cheeking. However, two elements offer a contrasting trimness, the neat rim and the saddle stem, which feature complementary colors: a chestnut smooth finish and cumberland vulcanite, providing a parallel in both design and color. In between the rim and stem, Bay's rendition of Eltang's signature rustication dresses the stummel in a craggy texture and jet-black tones, fostering a rugged character. Additionally, an accent band of camel bone wraps around the cumberland stem base, giving the understated composition a bright flourish.
