A stellar, intrinsically svelte briar, this pencil-shanked Billiard is a fantastic featherweight. Mike Sebastian Bay has brilliantly managed to imbue the piece with a bit of forthright substance about the cheeking flanks, serving to render the shank even more slender by juxtaposition. The chamber is deep and narrow, the rim soft and supple, bolstered by a gentle upward lift at the heel and beautifully balanced forward cant. Fashioned from a finely grained block of briar, Mike opted to finish this piece in a warm, vibrant finish and a long tapered vulcanite stem. Such slender designs give the appearance of delicateness; however, Bay's exacting craftsmanship and use of a carbon fiber tenon maintain a high level of stability, meaning the trimness is purely aesthetic — and a handsome aesthetic it is, indeed.
