Mike Sebastian Bay: Rusticated Acorn with Camel Bone Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-820-0145

Mike Sebastian Bay started with a simple task, find someone to repair his father's old pipes. He ended up in Tom Eltang's workshop. Learning firsthand from one of Denmark's foremost masters, Bay learned how to shape, drill, engineer, and finish pipes, even being given Eltang's blessing to use his signature rustication. Bay's aesthetic is one steeped in Danish tradition, which he readily embraces.

This Acorn by Mike Sebastian Bay takes its name quite literally, as the bowl is shaped identically to its namesake nut. The sharp heel flares to a plump, high-set waistline, and the trim transition enhances the Acorn contours in profile. Additionally, the bowl is dressed in Bay's take on Eltang's signature rustication style and a jet-black stain, while the gently inflated rim is left in a chestnut smooth finish, offering a colorful parallel to an acorn and its cap. Out back, the gestural shank flares outward from the tight transition, showcasing more of the gorgeous rustication in the process. The abbreviated stem is fashioned from jet-black vulcanite, presenting congruent hues to the stained stummel. However, a trim accent of Camel Bone on the stem base provides a gleaming white flourish that stands out from the dark tones of the composition.
