Mike Sebastian Bay: Rusticated Poker Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-820-0168

A common theme within artisan pipe making is the reinterpretation and creative rendering of classic shape-chart standards. This Curved Poker is a rendition we've seen a number of times from Mike Sebastian Bay, and it's a perfectly tasteful reinterpretation that maintains the form's characteristic shaping cues while adding obvious creativity to make it uniquely Bay's. The bowl is slender and cylindrical, like the traditional Poker; however, Mike has curved the lower bowl just at the transition, canting the upper portion in relation to the flattened heel. As such, it lends the form a certain forward-inclined posture that sits upright. Balancing it out, the shank and stem angle sleekly from the transition, offering a streamlined presence in profile, with the lines just interrupted by the stem base's expansion ring accent. The stummel wears an extra-craggy rustication in the fashion of Tom Eltang, who gave Mike his blessing to use the signature finishing style, and the smooth-polished, lighter stained, rounded rim is a Danish-style accenting touch that adds elegance and class to the color palette.
