Mike Sebastian Bay: Rusticated Bent Apple with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-820-0211
Mike Sebastian Bay's origin story is more unconventional than most artisans. It began when Mike was seeking someone to repair his father's pipe, and by chance, he befriended legendary pipe maker Tom Eltang. The two quickly developed a close bond, and Mike became Tom's apprentice, immersing himself in the craft of creating high-quality pipes under Tom's expert guidance. Now a highly respected figure in the pipe making community, Mike's style embodies a distinctively Danish aesthetic, enriched by a touch of Eltang's influence. This bent Apple by Mike Sebastian Bay boasts a diverse range of colors, textures, and materials. The bowl conforms well to the hand and features walls that curve out from a lifted heel and then taper back to a taut rim. Married to the bowl, a round shank curls up and meets a long ferrule of genuine horn that adds a pop of warmth to the pipe's profile. Completing the silhouette is a demurely curved stem that also features an expansion ring at its base, its inky color pairing well with the pipe's overall color palette. The stummel wears Bay's signature carved rustication, save for the rim and shank, both of which are left smooth for contrast.
