The Pear is a distinctive shape, almost like a Dublin but with a more rounded rim and a lifting heel to emulate the general shapeliness of the fruit for which it is named. Here the bowl is upright and through a low transition introduces the squared shank, which offers structure in contrast to the organic nature of the bowl. There's a long stretch of shank and stem accented by a bright sterling band, appropriate in style when considered in relation to the tall bowl, which is sandblasted with craggy growth rings climbing upward to the rim.
