Musico: Smooth Zulu with Silver (Set) Tobacco Pipe

The Zulu, or Yachtsman, can vary in the stem's degree of bend and the bowl's degree of forward cant, sometimes making for a sinuous S-curve in profile. The renditions from Massimo Musico take a more reserved approach — the stem almost imperceptibly bent and the bowl canted forward at an obvious but still minimal angle compared to other iterations. That being said, the bowl of this piece still takes center stage, rising to nearly two inches tall and standing out readily against the demure, low-set stretch of shank and stem. Such a design choice was well considered by Massimo, with the extra height of the bowl better showcasing the briar's sweeping grain pattern in a warm, auburn stain, all while a silver band at the junction offers contrast.
