Musico: Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Silver (Foundation) Tobacco Pipe

This bent Dublin is a lithe, Calabash-like take on the shape that boasts an impressive curvature through its smartly poised shank and stem combination. The shank curls up and out of a wide transition, tapering and reaching out to a domed silver military mount that matches it to a more sleekly tapering stem of black vulcanite. The shank's quick taper and short reach lend the stem more presence, and the long slenderness of its vulcanite shifts the visual weight toward the bowl: all while creating a gracile silhouette out back. Up front, the bowl stands on a sweeping heel and grows swiftly flaring walls that expand out to a broad, subtly domed rim, which overlooks a capacious chamber. Dressed in a crisp, inky sandblast, the stummel showcases handsome grain, reflecting a timeless, formal aesthetic alongside the stem and silver mount.

In 1990, two notable sons of the pipe world joined together and opened up a shop together. Those two were Paolo Becker and Massimo Musicò, the sons of Fritz Becker and Giorgio Musicò, respectively, and two highly respected individuals within Italy's pipe sphere. Starting in 1995, the pair began making pipes together, with Paolo turning the stummels and Massimo crafting silver spigots and bands to pair with the pipes. The duo enjoyed great success during their partnership, but in 2002, Paolo decided to go back to making artisan pipes full-time under the Becker name. Massimo Continued making Musicò pipes, however, and added the Foundation name to subsequent releases, additionally including the rest of his family in the production of the pipes.
