Musico: Sandblasted Rhodesian with Silver (Foundation) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-008-0862
This pocket-friendly Rhodesian from Musicò exemplifies the Italian marque's traditional style. A plump bowl with the Rhodesian's characteristically tapered rim is paired to a soft heel and upswept round shank that tapers gently as it reaches out to meet a black vulcanite stem with a matching taper: the pair joined at a silver-wrapped junction. This pipe maintains a good thickness throughout, with plenty of substance to appreciate in hand alongside a comfortable curvature about the bowl. The stummel is dressed in a crisp, inky sandblast that reveals some handsome grain, working with the stem and silver accent to offer a timelessly formal aesthetic.
In 1990, two notable sons of the pipe world joined together and opened up a shop together. Those two were Paolo Becker and Massimo Musicò, the sons of Fritz Becker and Giorgio Musicò, respectively, and two highly respected individuals within Italy's pipe sphere. Starting in 1995, the pair began making pipes together, with Paolo turning the stummels and Massimo crafting silver spigots and bands to pair with the pipes. The duo enjoyed great success during their partnership, but in 2002, Paolo decided to go back to making artisan pipes full-time under the Becker name. Massimo Continued making Musicò pipes, however, and added the Foundation name to subsequent releases, additionally including the rest of his family in the production of the pipes.
