Musico: Sandblasted Bent Billiard (Floodlight Special) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-008-0890
Musicò's bent Billiard renditions are often extremely slender, willowy examples of the timeless shape, and this particular piece is a great example of that style. The transition is rather tight, and it gives way to a lifting shank that tapers softly into the midsection before it's capped with a domed military mount made from warm cumberland. This colorful mount pairs the stummel to a sleek stem of tapering black vulcanite, one that's been subtly extended to emphasize its smart curvature that poises this pipe for comfortable smoking. Up front, the bowl stands atop a muscular heel and grows walls that make a slight taper toward the rim, offering plenty of space to showcase the stummel's inky sandblast.
In 1990, two notable sons of the pipe world joined together and opened up a shop together. Those two were Pablo Becker and Massimo Musicò, the sons of Fritz Becker and Giorgio Musicò, respectively, and two highly respected individuals within Italy's pipe sphere. Starting in 1995, the pair began making pipes together, with Pablo turning the stummels and Massimo crafting silver spigots and bands to pair with the pipes. The duo enjoyed great success during their partnership, but in 2002, Pablo decided to go back to making artisan pipes full-time under the Becker name. Massimo Continued making Musicò pipes, however, and added the Foundation name to subsequent releases, additionally including the rest of his family in the production of the pipes.
