Musico: Smooth Bent Billiard (Set Special) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-008-0910
An understated iteration of the bent Billiard from Musicò, this piece showcases only the barest of curves through its shank and stem combination. Said shank pushes out of a wide transition that leaves plenty of room to drape a digit, and it lifts ever-so-slightly near its end to meet a black vulcanite saddle stem. The curve through the stem's bit is more pronounced, though only slightly, and it imbues this pipe with a genteel, jocular character that's both playful and timeless. Up front, the bowl stands atop a rounded heel and grows its walls up to a flat rim with a slight bit of taper, insulating a capacious chamber for leisurely smoking sessions. Dressed in a deep, rich stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain, with birdseye peppering both flanks of the bowl.
In 1990, two notable sons of the pipe world joined together and opened up a shop together. Those two were Pablo Becker and Massimo Musicò, the sons of Fritz Becker and Giorgio Musicò, respectively, and two highly respected individuals within Italy's pipe sphere. Starting in 1995, the pair began making pipes together, with Pablo turning the stummels and Massimo crafting silver spigots and bands to pair with the pipes. The duo enjoyed great success during their partnership, but in 2002, Pablo decided to go back to making artisan pipes full-time under the Becker name. Massimo Continued making Musicò pipes, however, and added the Foundation name to subsequent releases, additionally including the rest of his family in the production of the pipes.
