Neerup: P. Jeppesen Handmade Ida Easy Cut Smooth Bent Billiard (6) Tobacco Pipe

After studying under such names as Karl Erik and Erik Nørding, Peder Jeppesen gained a wealth of knowledge about the pipe making craft. As the designer of Neerup pipes, Peder continues to apply this experience with the assistance of his son Christian. Jeppesen's Handmade Ida Easy Cut line features a variety of shapes in the Danish Fancy style. Fashioned entirely by hand, each pipe in the series possesses a unique design, with whimsical, organic flourishes granting them distinctive identities, showcased here in this bent Billiard. A hefty, palm-filling piece, this bent Billiard from Neerup displays the workshop's penchant for exceptionally robust proportions. Imposing in presence, the bowl stands tall at the fore of the composition, its strapping figure formed by thick, insulating walls reaching high from the broad, upturned heel toward the craggy, plateau-capped rim. Out back, a hearty, muscular shank curls upward out of a slightly pinched transition and flares toward an outcropping of plateau at the shank face, where it joins to an arcing saddle stem of vibrant, swirling acrylic. Courtesy of the Jeppesens' distinct contrast finish, the stummel wears a warm, smooth stain that highlights handsome grain throughout.
