Pete Prevost: Sandblasted Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-532-0039
Pete Prevost's Horn design is one he's refined over the last few years, with this recent iteration featuring some carefully-considered adjustments compared to earlier renditions. Here he's made careful use of the edges of a lenticular shank, carrying the ridges through the entire piece before allowing them to melt into the bowl's flare near the rim. It gives the form a sleek, gracile profile, further enhanced by the upturned saddle-stem, which carries those same lines through to the button. None of these lines seem sharp or sudden, however, a combination of delicate shaping and a fine sandblast serving to soften the form considerably. That sandblast in particular is choice, bringing out stacked, rippling ring grain along the entire bowl, and pairing nicely with a craggy plateau crown — the latter being not just an organic touch, but a natural extension of the other elements at play. It's a natural progression from previous Horn designs, and shows Pete's skill with dynamic, multi-faceted designs.
