Pete Prevost: Sandblasted Volcano Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-532-0081

Pete Prevost carved his first pipe over two days from a pipe kit. He then had the good fortune to learn the craft of pipe making from two of the most accomplished artisans in the United States: Jody Davis and Todd Johnson, both of whom quickly accelerated his learning process in the realms of both shaping and engineering. Prevost's synthesis of this skill with his personal style has resulted in a design outlook that oftentimes highlights compact shaping, well represented in this Volcano.

This pocket-friendly piece is a particularly demure example of the classic Volcano, rendered in Prevost's signature, sweeping style. The pert bowl rests on firm, lifted heel, defined by a ridgeline that encompasses the lower section of the stummel, from heel to junction. Said bowl features cinched-in walls that flare out at a forward-urging rim, rising sharply above the aft. Out back, a rounded triangular shank curls tightly upward, joined to a comfortably bent saddle stem of black vulcanite, making this lightweight pipe perfect for clenching. Dressed in a crisp, light-hued sandblast, the stummel displays fine ring grain all around the bowl, creating plenty of visual and tactile interest.
