Pete Prevost: 15th Anniversary Sandblasted Pot Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-532-0085
For artisan pipe maker and president of BriarWorks Pete Prevost, the year 2023 marked numerous milestones: It commemorated five years since BriarWorks moved to and opened its storefront in Columbia, Tennessee; 10 years since he co-founded BriarWorks alongside Todd Johnson; and 15 years since he made his first pipe and initiated his career as a handmade-pipe artisan. To celebrate his tenure, Prevost has crafted a limited selection of Nosewarmer Pot designs in honor of his 15 years as an artisan pipe maker.
Those who have followed Prevost's work over the years will recognize this piece's adherence to the American carver's signature style. He's well known for fashioning smaller pipes that often exude a charmingly robust stature while still remaining soft, refined, and petite. This 15th Anniversary Pot rendition exemplifies Prevost's personal style, and it also draws inspiration from the first pipe he ever made — one that he carved and sanded in his kitchen from a pipe kit in 2008. Soon later, Prevost's skill accelerated thanks to tutelage from Jody Davis, Todd Johnson, and Bruce Weaver. Today, he's known worldwide and is among the most respected artisans in the United States, both for his personal, handmade pipes and his supervision and direction of BriarWorks and Moonshine pipes.
While this 15th Anniversary Pot is inspired by Prevost's first-ever pipe, it's not intended as an exact replica; instead, it reimagines that original design through a lens informed by 15 years of skillful expertise and shaping experience. This is that first pipe according to who Prevost is as an artisan and craftsman today. The stout shank pairs naturally to the equally robust bowl, with the shank tapering ever-so-slightly toward a rounded face — a design element that resembles the profile of a military mount, only left unadorned. At under four-and-a-half inches in length, this is a staple Pete Prevost pocket pipe, and the dark sandblast reveals a handsomely textured grain around the bowl. Lastly, Prevost has stamped this piece "15 Years" to commemorate his anniversary, marking it as a collectible and extremely limited pipe within his portfolio.
