Pete Prevost: Sandblasted Long Shank Bent Dublin with Bakelite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-532-0088
Artisan pipe maker and President of BriarWorks, Pete Prevost has been making pipes for over 15 years after enjoying a career as the lead guitarist for Sanctus Real. In his early years as a pipe maker, he received guidance from iconic carvers Jody Davis, Todd Johnson, and Bruce Weaver, and today, Prevost is among North America's finest and most respected artisan pipe makers. His design sensibilities often prioritize impressively petite pipes, ranging from stout Nosewarmers to slight and slender featherweights — all imbued with the meticulous engineering and pristine finishing work of a veteran pipe maker.
Though the overall length of this bent Dublin makes it among Prevost's rarer, larger pieces, it maintains his penchant for sleek lines and overall light weight, making it an impressively lightweight pipe with substantial chamber capacity. Moreover, it's also among Prevost's more angular designs, trading the oft-seen soft and gentle lines of his shaping style for a more architectural and rakish aesthetic. The broad shank reveals a sleek disposition in profile, marked by crisp panels along the flanks to create an angular heel at the fore, and the bowl flares upward in a proud display to dominate the profile compared to the shank's relative diminution. Deserving of such a showcase, the bowl features cascading ring grain from the plateau-crowned rim — all highlighted by an intricate sandblast and a hand-cut Bakelite stem of vibrant peppermint hues.
