Peterson: Aran Nickel Mounted (53) Fishtail Tobacco Pipe

Sure, it doesn't pop up nearly as often as, say, the "01" or "05" shapes in the marque's lineup, but Peterson's "53" Lovat is undoubtedly one of my favorite designs from the venerable Irish firm. The marque's signature stout style of transition and shank is, of course, well preserved — adding a fair bit of charm in profile. What strikes me most about the shape, however, is the compact proportions gained by its "sawed-off" shank, which, to my eye at least, seems to augment those aforementioned stout proportions.
