Peterson: Gold Supreme Smooth (268) Fishtail (2/10) with Presentation Box Tobacco Pipe

Peterson's Supreme was long the marque's superlative grade of pipes, but the series hasn't been around in quite some time. Only one in 2000 stummels are worthy of the Supreme series, meaning they are indeed the cream of the Irish firm's crop. To commemorate the reintroduction of this esteemed series, the marque opted to dress the first ten pieces with striking gold bands and handsome, custom-made presentation boxes, handcrafted by leatherwork Claudio Albieri.

Here found in the Supreme series is the marque's Yachtsman shape, a form that's seemingly under-represented amongst many makers' lineups. Peterson's "268" is a fine rendition of the Anglo-Irish shape chart standard, and it's fairly sprawling, yet jaunty, imbued with just a touch of the marque's characteristic muscularity about the bowl. A lovely cross-grain makes for fine pools of birdseye at the left and right flanks, too. Recommended.
