Peterson: Dublin Filter Rusticated (107) Fishtail (9mm)
Product Number: 002-029-46626
Within Peterson's standard shape chart, the "107" is one of the most robust and substantial of the Irish marque's straight Billiard variations. This piece is defined by a stolid, upright bowl, housing a generous chamber, while the shank and transition continue Peterson's signature, stout shaping aesthetic. It's a striking example of the Irish firm's deft balance of iconic, individual style and the timeless classicism of traditional pipe chart standards.
Peterson has offered a line of filtered pipes since 1947, evolving over the decades in name and finish. It's remained consistent, though, since 1997 as the Dublin Filter series — each pipe within the line being drilled to hold a 9mm filter, (Peterson's proprietary charcoal filters being offered in packs of 150 and 40 count boxes). Often, when a marque features filtered versions of their standard shapes, certain designs must be slightly altered to accommodate wider drilling; however, Peterson's signature aesthetic hews toward more robust shanks and transitions, making for a seamless cross-over between filtered and non-filtered renditions of the same shape. Presented in a rugged, dark-stained rustication, with lighter hues flecking the texture's peaks to match twin nickel accent rings, the Dublin Filter line displays a handsome aesthetic that remains both striking and traditionally reserved.-Truett Smith
