Peterson: Pipe of the Year 2019 Sandblasted P-Lip
Product Number: 002-029-51503
Like the famous personification of the United Kingdom himself, Peterson's original "John Bull" shape was a stout, seemingly jovial fellow, resolute in its character and beloved as a symbol of comfort. The original wearer of the heralded "999" stamp, the shape represented the epitome of the Irish marque's muscular shaping style, though during a time of transition, it was supplanted by a much leaner, more slender number, and the archetypal Rhodesian shape was lost to time. Fortunately, an unfinished bowl from a classic John Bull turned up in Dublin among some old boxes, and Peterson leapt at the opportunity to honor the vintage form for their 2019 Pipe of the Year. Here seen in a dark, understated sandblast, it makes for a truly impressive offering, especially given its broad silver accent band and traditional, regal disposition. A fine means of honoring the Irish marque's fine history.-Truett Smith
