Peterson: Flame Grain Silver Cap (406) Fishtail Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-029-52838

While the "408" does display Prince-like elements, the "406" is Peterson's definitive take on the classic Prince shape. Seemingly plucked straight from a vintage English catalog, the profile displays the design's characteristically long, slightly downturned stem, informing its reputation for elegance. The bowl is squat and plump, with perhaps some extra heft to its base, per Peterson's signature shaping style, but the shank and transition are decidedly trimmer, catering more to traditional Anglo-French proportions than the robust, muscular aesthetic seen throughout the Irish marque's portfolio.

Peterson's esteemed Flame Grain series consists of pipes crafted from select quality briar, carefully chosen for their choice grain orientation. The designation represents one of Peterson's highest grades, and in this example the lively array of grain is brought out by a smoky, black walnut contrast stain. The finish draws attention to the silver cap and accent band, fashioned by the Sallynoggin factory's expert silversmiths, each one having spent years of mentorship underneath Peterson's senior craftsmen. The metal provides a formal, austere presentation, and the cap also protects the rim from charring, making for a pipe that's as eye-catching as it is practical.
