Peterson: Dublin Filter Rusticated (606) Fishtail (9mm)
Product Number: 002-029-57580
Peterson's "606" is a straight Pot in typical Irish style, exemplifying the company's penchant for robust shanks and hearty proportions, while the thick insulating walls exude plenty of muscularity on their own. With a wide tobacco chamber, broad bowl dimensions, and a transition that emphasizes the shape of the bowl with subtle cheeking, it completes a unified composition that's full of stout substance and an impressive in hand feel.
Peterson has offered a line of filtered pipes since 1947, evolving over the decades in name and finish. It's remained consistent, though, since 1997 as the Dublin Filter series — each pipe within the line being drilled to hold a 9mm filter, (Peterson's proprietary charcoal filters being offered in packs of 150 and 40 count boxes). Often, when a marque features filtered versions of their standard shapes, certain designs must be slightly altered to accommodate wider drilling; however, Peterson's signature aesthetic hews toward more robust shanks and transitions, making for a seamless cross-over between filtered and non-filtered renditions of the same shape. Presented in a rugged, dark-stained rustication, with lighter hues flecking the texture's peaks to match twin nickel accent rings, the Dublin Filter line displays a handsome aesthetic that remains both striking and traditionally reserved.- Chuck Stanion
