Peterson: Jekyll & Hyde (03) Fishtail Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-029-69564
Peterson's "03" bent Apple maintains the extra-stout shank and robust transition that combine to define the Peterson aesthetic, while trading the Irish marque's typically tubular bowl style with the rounded form of a classic Apple. The plumpness of the bowl translates well to the hearty transition and shank, lending the composition a tight-knit, muscular aesthetic. It's one of the marque's most charming, well-known shapes, and it's easy to see why — whether hanging from the jaw or filling the palm, it's a versatile smoker that seamlessly marries traditional appeal with Peterson's recognizable personality.
Succeeding 2012's introduction of the popular Dracula line, Peterson released the Jekyll & Hyde in 2015, paying homage to yet another piece of classic literature. The series draws inspiration from Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 gothic novella Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The story follows Gabriel John Utterson, a London lawyer, and his investigation of Dr. Henry Jekyll and the mysteriously nefarious Edward Hyde. Spoiler alert: Both Jekyll and Hyde are the same person, the doctor having created a serum intended to dampen the dark side of his personality, but the potion accidentally transforms him into Mr. Hyde, the cruel personification of his inner evil. Like Jekyll's dual personalities, Peterson's Jekyll & Hyde series features two distinct finishes — a smooth, well-kept, ruby-tinged stain adorns the Dr. Jekyll side, while the craggy, dark-stained rustication of the other symbolizes the malevolent Mr. Hyde.-Jeffery Sitts
