Named after Sherlock's housekeeper and landlady at 221B Baker Street, Peterson's Hudson design is a hearty, sturdy quarter-bent Bulldog. Mrs. Hudson is quite a significant character throughout the adventures of Holmes and Watson, especially in her ability to put up with Sherlock's eccentricities and all the trouble and intrigue he naturally gravitated toward. Also referred to as the "XL21," the bowl's forward cant and easy transition echo the stem's slight downward turn, lending the muscular form a sense of elegance.
