Peterson: Supreme Silver Mounted Smooth (128) P-Lip Tobacco Pipe

Originally designated as the "D16," the "128" bent Dublin is one of Peterson's more classically proportioned shapes. It forgoes the Irish marque's signature style of robust proportions, trading their oft-seen muscular shank and transition for a more slender, sinuous form. The "D" line was first produced for the Irish marque's Danish distributor, Larsen and Peterson, around 1996, focusing on traditional Danish shaping and featuring shapes that are more slender and elegantly curved than the hearty Irish style of Peterson's other pieces. In the "128" bent Dublin, that aesthetic is manifested by a bowl that flicks upward from out of the heel and flares conservatively in a forward cant for a dynamic, sleek profile. Certainly a shape worthy of consideration for those drawn to Peterson's historic reputation and who want a more streamlined shape-chart standard.

When fashioning new pipes, Peterson separates stummels into various grades, differentiating between degrees of quality and grain orientation. For decades, the Supreme grade reigned, well, supreme, being the pinnacle of Peterson's production. However, throughout the '00s, the prestigious designation began to fall out of use. That all changed, though, in 2019 with Peterson resurrecting the superlative Supreme stamp, followed by the A+ and A grades, respectively. Out of 2,000 stummels, only one will be of Supreme quality and perfection, making the line truly the best, most exclusive offering from the Irish firm. Dressed in a honey-blonde stain for best grain definition, this piece's patterns are on full display, further commended by a regal, silver accent band. It joins the ranks of Peterson's best pipes, bar none.
