Brad Pohlmann: Partially Sandblasted Balloon Tobacco Pipe

We've seen one Balloon rendition from Brad Pohlmann before, and it's evident that this shape is certainly one defined by a juxtaposition of crisp line and smooth curve. A tight-knit, Ivarsson-esque teardrop shank seemingly urges the composition forward, rushing the eye to the broad, flaring cheeks, and subsequently to the softened, smooth-stained rim. Around the Acorn-like bowl, dense rows of magnificent, concentric ring-grain ride the flanks, highlighted by a deep, dark red stain. The chamber is of squarish dimensions, and the feel in hand is easy, yet quite firm, with the pinched transition allowing a natural divot to make way for the fingers.
