Brad Pohlmann: Sandblasted Diamond Shank Canadian Tobacco Pipe

Classical of form, yet somewhat modern of style, this trim Canadian from Brad Pohlmann is really quite neat, and it's the subtle details at play which make it so. This particular Billiard variant is one which scales quite well across a number of size designations, with the characteristically lengthy shank serving as its defining attribute. Brad has certainly gone one further here, accentuating the softened muscularity of the petite bowl by rendering the shank as a crisp-lined diamond. Even so, it's still a firm sitter, with the strong heel of the former offering a pleasant balance with the trim geometry of the latter. A slim sliver of lightly-stained briar graces the shank just before the mortise, offering a satisfying visual division which leads the eye to the rich cumberland stem.
