Brad Pohlmann: Smooth Bent Egg Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-381-0131
American artisan Brad Pohlmann has long cited the Danish shaping style as a strong influence, and this bent Egg is an elegant homage to that tradition. Its mid-set waistline lends the form a touch of suppleness that allows for easy palming, as well as giving space for a soft, elegant taper up to the rim. A low-slung transition allows those curves to flow effortlessly into the oval shank, which itself still features a bit of muscle to it, in turn making for a pipe that is compact of form without sacrificing stability or sturdiness. On the other end, the transition flows just as naturally into the lifted heel, giving the bowl a forward cant that's echoed in its angled rim to create a continuity of line. Rounded in flame grain and polished smooth, it's an attractive offering from Pohlmann.
