Brad Pohlmann: Smooth Speeding Tomato
Product Number: 002-381-0140
Recently, Brad Pohlmann's Speeding Tomato renditions seemed to be trending toward the ideal of overt sleekness, fusing charming plumpness with a modernist sense of implied forward motion to result in a form uniquely his own. This offering seems to break the trend, if only slightly, forgoing the implementation of a domed sort of shank for a more tubular, rounded bit of shaping, effortlessly paired to a wide-cheeked bowl up front. The result is a profile that practically glides forward, guided by the tightly-chamfered rim and subtly bulged heel at the fore.
As for the finish, Brad opted for a vibrant, smooth stain, serving to highlight ample flame and birdseye to beautifully frame the shape's charming lines. Indeed, there's plenty of feathery flame on all flanks, with an underside packed with vivid whorls, and the palette is splendidly complemented by a saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite. A gorgeous piece.
