Brad Pohlmann: Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-381-0155
Brad Pohlmann is one of the few artisans who has seen both eras of American pipe making: The '70s and '80s saw bold, dramatic designs influenced by Italian and Danish Fancy Freehand styles, while the late '90s onward introduced refined, avant-garde pipes inspired by the Danish and Japanese schools of designs. This experience in stylistic history still holds bearings in Brad Pohlmann's design style, and Pohlmann himself is now known as one of the most renowned artisans in North America thanks his to meticulous engineering and artistic skill. This bent Dublin by Brad Pohlmann is a handsome showcase of the carver's classic style, being a lightweight rendition that's perfect for on-the-go smoking. This piece possesses a graceful arcing profile, which descends from a flaring bowl and then ascends upwards into a sturdy shank-and-stem arrangement. The bowl contours well to the hand, formed by walls that characteristically flare from a lifted heel to a broad, ridgeline-wrapped rim. The shank marries seamlessly with the bowl and meets a stylized stem of tapering black vulcanite. The stummel wears a smooth, chestnut-hued finish that displays tendrils of flame grain along both flanks and swirls of birdseye along the entire underside.
