PS Studio: Sandblasted Lovat with Beechwood
Product Number: 002-458-0264
Though the lines have a smooth and modern sense about them, proportions-wise this is PS Studio's most classic type of Lovat — with other styles we've seen from them going for alternative bowl-forms (wide Pot, or very low-waistline Brandy) or outright chubby proportions from rim to shank-end. The choice of accent here is an interesting one: beechwood. Normally this is a wood seen in purely functional applications, such as its common use in the past, alongside walnut, for the stocks of military rifles (beechwood actually tends to be the harder and stronger of the two, but walnut has the advantage of greater natural resistance to exposure). Hardness and modulus of rupture are not big factors here of course — just the way this paler hardwood works well in contrast to a darker finish.
