Radice: Clear Dublin (F) (E) (with Oak Case)
Product Number: 002-030-2771
Here's a presentation you don't see everyday--or ever, for that matter. First, the pipe: A Clear Dublin in a stunningly understated configuration. The shank is wide in width but shorter in height, providing excellent surfaces at the top and bottom for birdseye. The rim is likewise a palette for birdseye and you'll rarely become tired of admiring it. The grain surrounds the bowl quite consistently and is a wonderment of fine patterning. Widening through the bowl to the top, as a Dublin will, it also narrows from transition to stem.
Then there's the box: fashioned from oak pillars used as substructure in the city of Venice, Italy. These timbers need replacement every thousand years or so. They hold up well buried deep in the mud, except for the distressed appearance, which is caused by mollusks nibbling away at them. A more beautifully natural presentation is hard to imagine.
