Radice: Rind Bent Pot with Spiral Carving

Product Number: 002-030-3309

The founder of the Radice family workshop, Luigi Radice, started his pipemaking career as an artisan for Castello. Therefore, it's no surprise that every once in a while a form reminiscent of a Castello shape comes out of the Radice workshop. Such is the case here with a very solid and lively take on the Castello "55." It's essentially a stout, extra-bold-heeled bent Pot that's remained one of the most iconic designs from the Italian school for decades. The Radices have put their own spin on it, though, through the use of a smooth-polished, tightly spiraled shank and gently bent stem. The bowl's been finished in the rugged Rind rustication and is stained a warm orange-ruby hue, offering some wonderful contrast to the smooth rim and shank.
